Privacy Policy

Widgets read your calendars, reminders, contacts, music, files, clipboard, screenshots, notes, voice memos and system information through macOS so they can show them in the Dock. That information is processed on your Mac and is not sent to us.

Your settings, widgets, themes and workspaces are stored on your Mac, and your license in its Keychain. The app contains no analytics, advertising or tracking.

To provide the trial and licenses, our licensing server processes:

• To start the trial: the email address you enter and an identifier for your Mac.
• To activate a license: your email address, the license key and the same Mac identifier. The identifier is derived from your Mac's serial number with a one-way function; the serial number itself never leaves your Mac.
• To keep a license valid: while the app runs, it checks the license with our server every few hours, sending the signed license and the Mac identifier, and the Macs a license is active on.
• From Stripe, our payment processor: the purchase email, the plan, amount, currency, country, and payment, refund and dispute status. We never receive or store full card details; Stripe acts as an independent controller for payment data.
• To recover a license: the email address you enter. The key is sent only to the address used for the purchase.

Some widgets fetch information directly from third-party services, only when you add or use them. Those services receive your IP address and the details below, and handle them under their own privacy policies:

• Weather (Open-Meteo): your location rounded to about 1 km, or the city you choose in Settings, and the city names you search for.
• Lyrics (LRCLIB): the title, artist, album and duration of the song playing.
• GitHub contributions (GitHub): the public profile of the username you enter.
• Album artwork (your music service, such as Spotify): the address of the cover of the song playing.
• Web search: your search opens in your browser, on the engine you choose (Google, Bing or DuckDuckGo).

This website has no analytics, advertising cookies or trackers. If you choose a language, the choice is remembered in your browser (the md_site_locale cookie and local storage) for up to 12 months. Our hosting provider processes technical information, such as your IP address, browser and request time, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.

We use your name, email address, the contents of your message and anything you attach to answer you. If you choose to send diagnostic information, such as the app and macOS versions and error details, we use it only to investigate the issue. Please do not send sensitive personal information unless it is necessary for a specific support matter.

We use information to:

• provide, secure, operate, and improve the Services;
• run the trial, process purchases and subscriptions, issue and validate licenses, apply the two-Mac limit, and handle refunds, cancellations and payment disputes;
• send license emails and respond to requests, support inquiries, and legal notices;
• detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, security incidents, and technical problems;
• comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms; and
• establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

Where a legal basis is required, we process personal information to take steps you request or perform a contract, to comply with a legal obligation, with your consent, or for legitimate interests such as service security, fraud prevention, support, and improvement. We balance those interests against your rights and expectations.

We share information only with the service providers that operate the Services on our behalf:

• payment and billing (Stripe), which processes purchases, subscriptions, refunds and payment disputes;
• hosting and infrastructure (Cloudflare), which runs this website, the licensing server and its database;
• email delivery, which sends license and support messages.

These providers are bound by contract or by law to use the information only as needed to provide their service. We may change providers within these categories.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights or safety, or in connection with a corporate transaction, subject to applicable law.

We do not sell personal information and do not use it for advertising.

Your information may be processed in Brazil, the United States, and other countries where our service providers operate. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

We keep information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above. Purchase and license records are kept while the license is valid and afterwards for the period required by accounting and tax obligations and for the resolution of disputes. Other information is kept according to its purpose and context. We may retain de-identified or aggregated information where permitted by law.

Licenses are signed, the connection to our server is encrypted, and email credentials are stored encrypted. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information, but no system or transmission is completely secure.

Subject to applicable law, you may request access to, confirmation of, correction of, deletion of, anonymization or blocking of unnecessary or excessive information, portability, information about sharing, withdrawal of consent, and review of certain automated decisions. You may also object to processing in circumstances permitted by law.

To make a request, email support@getnotchnook.com. We may need to verify your identity and may retain limited information where required or permitted by law, including records we must keep for tax purposes.

For individuals in Brazil, these rights are addressed under the Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados (LGPD), and you may lodge a complaint with the Autoridade Nacional de Proteção de Dados (ANPD). Rights under other applicable laws, including the GDPR or U.S. state privacy laws, are preserved where they apply.

The Services are not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us at the address below.

We will update this Policy before a feature or service changes what it describes, post the new version here and revise the effective date. Material changes will be communicated by an appropriate method when required by law.
